Horror Ambience Mixer: Drone, Wind and Heartbeat Loop
Move the sliders to build a quiet, uneasy bed of sound, listen to the loop and download it as a WAV. It is a fast way to get placeholder or final ambience for a prototype.
The loop is rendered in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Tips
Keep the drone quiet and let silence do work. Add a few one-shot sounds from far away on top. See [horror game sound design](/guides/horror-game-sound-design/) and our [free horror sound packs](/free-assets/).
When to use it
A base layer for every room
Loop a quiet drone under the whole level so silence never feels empty, then add room sounds on top.
Building tension before a scare
Export a second loop with the heartbeat louder and crossfade to it as the player gets closer.
Prototypes and jam games
Give the game atmosphere on day one, long before you have a composer or a sound library.

Questions
The preview loops the rendered buffer, and slow modulation hides most seams. For a perfect loop, crossfade the ends in Audacity.
The sound is generated on your device from your settings, so you are the author of what you download.
Quieter than you think: the player should notice when it stops, not while it plays. Leave room for footsteps and the monster to be heard over it.
The download is made to loop. In Unity tick Loop on the AudioSource; in Godot enable loop in the WAV import settings.
